Yesterday marked the first Nintendo Direct of the 2020s after COVID-19 all but made them non-existent. However, we’re not talking about that. Let’s talk about a Neo-Geo Pocket Color game that quietly dropped onto the Nintendo Switch eShop: SNK vs. Cpacom: The Match of the Millenium!

A New Challenger Approaches!

For fans of old fighting games, the “vs. Capcom” series, or Neo-Geo Pocket Color games, this release may seem exciting!

It’s unclear if this means that more Neo-Geo Pocket and Neo-Geo Pocket Color games will come to the eShop as an official virtual console like release, but this should definitely be exciting!

This does appears to be a straight port of the original game, as anything that requires the DC/KOF Link cable are disabled, but you can still play the standard VS mode. The apparent lack of a work-around by the developers to resolve the obvious lack of compatibility with the old link cable is annoying, and could be a deal-breaker for some.

But Wait! There’s More!

As I was writing this post, I found out that there are more Neo-Geo Pocket/Neo-Geo Pocket Color games up on the Switch’s eShop!

The first game I found was Fatal Fury: First Contact.

Next one was King of Fighters: R-2.

The Samurai Showdown games are also available in both these Neo-Geo Pocket Color styled formats and one collection that has all seven games.

Finally, I found The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny.

That’s All, Folks!

That’s it for this post! It’s cool that there are some classic Neo-Geo Pocket/Neo-Geo Pocket Color games that are up on the Nintendo Switch’s eShop, and all for $7.99 (United States Dollar) or your regional equivalent!
