Howdy everyone!
Just wanted to let y’all know that I’m actively working on some back-end stuff regarding the website!
I’ve been experimenting with heavily compressing my videos with Apple’s Compressor app, and I have to say that the results are extremely promising.

While the videos do take a dip in terms of the quality of both the visual and audible departments, they do end up being just 4% of their original file size (depending on how the originals were exported). The calculated total weight of all the new files should be no more than 68-70 GB, but it’s looking as if the final results will be much smaller.
I will take a moment to say that regardless of the actual final size, it will still be much more than 13 GB, which is my current maximum storage limit for this website. If I wish to store more videos and other media on here in the near future, I will need to upgrade my plan to at least the $25/month “Professional” plan which will give me upwards of 200 GB to work with, and the added ability to start using plugins. That way, if I ever do decide to make a file server to host the original videos on, I will already have upgraded my plan.
(whispers from off-stage)
Wh-what?
(more whispers)
Do I really have to…?
(more, louder whispers)
Ugh… Fine…
[clears throat]
I hate to do this, but if I want to continue on with my plan of upgrading the website to truly start hosting my videos on here in the event that YouTube completely dies, I will need monetary support from some of y’all…
I did the math and if I can get at least four more people to sign up for the $5/month tier on my Patreon, then I will be able to maintain the website at that higher plan with little to know out-of-pocket costs.
Now, I will give a shout-out to my friend Ellie, who decided yesterday that she was going to throw even more money my way and become my first potentially long-term patron, so, thanks, Ellie!
If any of y’all wish to take a look at the Patreon page, or even sign up to become a patron, here’s the link: https://www.patreon.com/Da12thKind
Anywho, I think that’s it for my thing about asking for money. I honestly hate doing it, mostly because I believe that money should be in exchange for goods and/or services, and sometimes it feels as though my content doesn’t fall into this category; which is why I have an Etsy shop. I hope y’all are looking forward to the future revitalization of this website, as I’m trying to really turn it into something that I’m proud of.
