Welcome to the main show page for the Safe Spaces & Game Making Podcast!
You might be wondering, “What is the Safe Spaces & Game Making Podcast?” The answer is simple! This podcast aims to do two things: 1.) Create a safe space for people to be comfortable talking about mental health and 2.) Discuss things I’ve learned as I make games as a hobby.
As a general disclaimer, during the segment wherein I discuss mental health, there may be some things that are triggering to folks, such as topics on suicide, depression, and more, but a specific disclaimer will be brought up before the episodes starts. Sometimes, however, heavy-hitting topics aren’t discussed, so a disclaimer may not be necessary.
Also, I would like to add that I’m not a mental health professional. While this is a safe space to discuss mental health, game design, and other topics, I request that you do not post messages about desires to harm yourself or others. If you are feeling that way, please contact a mental health professional, or call a crisis help line. Below is the suicide prevention hotline for the United States of America.
Episodes will air every month on the last day of the month, on this website, at 7 PM Central Standard Time.
For an idea about when to expect episodes, here’s a release chart for the first 12 episodes:
Below are the thumbnails for each episode. When you click on one, you’ll be taken to that episode’s page where you’ll be able to listen to the episode, read the show notes, and leave comments.
Please note that these thumbnail designs are liable to be changed throughout the year as I try different designs.
